Coolsculpting® at Faulkner Plastic Surgery

Coolsculpting® at Faulkner Plastic Surgery

Are you generally happy with the size and shape of your body but concerned about a few areas of stubborn fat? If so, you aren’t alone. Many people commit themselves to diet and exercise only to find there are certain parts of their body they simply can’t tone no matter how much effort they put in. This can be extremely frustrating, particularly if you feel self-conscious about these areas.

In the past, the only way to effectively treat stubborn fat was to undergo surgical Liposuction. However, CoolSculpting – a non-invasive technique - offers an alternative to achieving a smooth and contoured silhouette.

How does CoolSculpting® work?

Coolsculpting is an FDA-approved, innovative, non-invasive technique that works by freezing your fat cells, which subsequently die and are processed out of your body through its natural elimination methods. This technique is also often referred to as Cryolipolysis. The freezing is done using a machine attached to your target area, which delivers precise cooling to your body. Since fat is more temperature-sensitive than skin, the underlying cells are destroyed without damage to the overlying skin or surrounding structures such as blood vessels, tissues, and nerves.

The elimination process can take a number of weeks and as such, the final results of your CoolSculpting procedure will not be immediately visible. However, most patients find the area targeted by Coolsculpting will continue to improve in appearance over the weeks and months following the treatment.

How long does each Coolsculpting® treatment take?

Every patient is different and the time needed for each CoolSculpting procedurecan vary. However, on average you can expect the freezing part of the process to take around 35-45 minutes. The size of the area being treated and the number of treatments you need per area will determine how long your treatment will take. For example, if you undergo CoolSculpting on the flanks, you will need one or possibly two treatments on each side, which may take up to 2 hours.

Most patients find that only one session of Coolsculpting on each target area is sufficient to enable them to see the toned contours that they have been dreaming of.

Benefits of Coolsculpting®?

The popularity of CoolSculpting is largely driven by a number of unique benefits which include :

  • Significantly less expensive than conventional Liposuction.

  • No need for a general anesthetic. Instead, you can relax with a magazine, book, listen to some music or watch Netflix while your treatment is taking place.

  • No operating theater. Your procedure is performed in a comfortable, relaxing setting.

  • Non-invasive, with absolutely no need for incisions and subsequent sutures.

  • Fast recovery with most patients able to return to their usual routine immediately after their procedure.

How long do Coolsculpting® results last?

Since fat cells cannot return once they are destroyed, following CoolSculpting , provided you do not gain weight and instead follow a healthy, active lifestyle, you should be able to sustain the results of your CoolSculpting indefinitely.

Am I a good candidate for Coolsculpting®?

The vast majority of patientsinterested in CoolSculpting find they are a good candidate for the process. However, it is still essential for Dr. Faulkner to assess each patient on a case by case basis.
